Bruce David Brooks
Bruce has spent most of his life as a resident of Cobourg, Ontario. He is married with three grown children and has six grandchildren.
A personal talent for drawing and painting, coupled with a strong sense of detail, was evident at a very early age. Although primarily a
self-taught visual artist, he did receive very early training from Paavo Airola and Major David Bennett of the Cobourg Art Club, from 1957 to 1961.
Trained and certified as a Senior Engineering Technician, his talent for graphic illustration provided a foundation for a forty-five year career
as a Mechanical Design Draftsman in the Footwear, Automotive and Office Seating Industries.
As an amateur visual artist Bruce is predominantly an oil painter, although he has done many pen and ink illustrations and occasionally dabbled in acrylic painting. His subjects range from portraiture, wildlife, family pets, and landscapes to architectural renditions, as well as cartoon caricatures.
Retirement has opened up a latent desire to pursue what comes naturally for Bruce and hopefully allow others to enjoy his art.
